ROXANNE TORABIAN-BASHARDOUST joined Nevers, Palazzo,
Maddux & Packard in 2008. Roxanne has represented
clients in California state and federal courts on a wide
variety of litigation matters including breach of
contract, unfair competition, breach of fiduciary duty,
trade secrets, defamation, fraud, and trademark and
trade dress infringement. Roxanne also has experience in
real estate litigation including issues such as breach
of contract, specific performance, mechanic's liens,
injunctive relief and commercial lease disputes. Roxanne
represents employers in all areas of employment law,
including wage and hour, mergers and acquisitions,
employment discrimination, wrongful termination, unfair
competition and sexual harassment. She has represented
employers before the National Labor Relations Board, the
Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the Department
of Fair Employment and Housing, the Workers'
Compensation Appeals Board, the Department of Labor, the
California Labor Commissioner and state and federal
courts in California.
A significant part of Roxanne's employment practice
involves helping companies prevent litigation through
counseling on issues such as wage and hour compliance,
employment policies and procedures, employee discipline
matters, hiring and firing, unfair competition,
disability accommodation and leaves of absence. In
addition, Roxanne consults on and prepares handbooks,
policies and a broad range of essential agreements.
Roxanne graduated summa cum laude from UCLA in
1999, as a member of Phi Beta Kappa, with a double major
in Philosophy and Psychology. She received her J.D. from
Northwestern University in 2002, graduating cum laude.
At Northwestern, Roxanne was the Editor in Chief of the
Northwestern Journal of International Law and
Business. Prior to joining Nevers, Palazzo, Maddux &
Packard, Roxanne was an associate at the international
law firm Bingham McCutchen and at the Los Angeles office
of Riordan & McKinzie. Throughout her career, Roxanne
has been active in pro bono work representing the
interests of children.
